Political Activity

The Budgit Foundation recognizes and respects the right of its staff members to engage in political activities in their personal capacities. This policy outlines the guidelines and expectations for staff members who choose to participate in political activities to ensure they do not conflict with their responsibilities and to maintain a clear distinction between personal and professional affiliations.

1. Personal Capacity:
Staff members are free to engage in political activities in their personal capacities, provided that such activities do not conflict with their ability to fulfill their responsibilities at The Budgit Foundation.

2. Outside Perception:
Staff members should be mindful of the potential difficulty in distinguishing between their personal and professional capacities. They should consider the outside perception when engaging in political activities.

3. Business Hours and Resources:
No political activities can be conducted during a staff member’s working hours (business day), and no foundation resources may be used for political activities. Staff members must not use foundation resources, facilities, or equipment for political purposes.

4. Individual Capacity:
Staff members who engage in political activities must clearly state that they are doing so in their individual capacities and not as representatives of The Budgit Foundation.

5. Non-Company Affiliation:
Staff members must not use their affiliations with The Budgit Foundation when identifying themselves in connection with any political activity. They should ensure that their involvement in political activities is separate from their role at the foundation.

Policy Compliance:
All staff members are expected to comply with this policy. Violations of this policy may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

Policy Review:
This policy will be reviewed periodically to ensure its effectiveness and to make any necessary updates. Staff members are encouraged to reach out to the HR department with any questions or concerns related to this policy.

The Budgit Foundation is committed to promoting a diverse and inclusive workplace, and this policy is designed to respect and safeguard the personal rights of our staff members while maintaining the integrity of our professional relationships and responsibilities.
