BudgIT Sierra Leone began operations in September 2020 as a registered non-governmental entity to drive citizen participation in governance and promote development through efficient service delivery. So far, we have reached over 830,000 citizens through online and offline engagements, including over 50 civic society organizations. We have also conducted awareness programs, engaged over 20 communities, and supported two government institutions.
In 2020, BudgIT Sierra Leone started the ‘BudgIT Hour, a bi-weekly civic engagement radio show. The one-hour show, which airs on Lion Mountain and Victory Radio, engages local council actors on governance and conducts a series of debates on the national budget, highlighting vital capital projects and sector allocations.

We do not just provide simplified access to the budget using creative tools; we also monitor projects to ensure efficient service delivery, advocate for effective fiscal and resource governance and provide support for CSOs and government institutions.
